Stephon Marbury

NBA Player New York Knicks

 

While in New York I had the opportunity to give a Bible study to Stephon Marbury!

Stephon currently plays for the New York Knicks NBA team.

 

The 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m), 205 lb (93 kg/14.6 st) point guard/shooting guard was selected out of the Georgia Institute of Technology by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 4th overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft, but was traded shortly thereafter to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

 

He was an NBA All-Star in 2001 and 2003 and was voted into the All-NBA Third Team in 2000 and 2003. He is known for his quickness, ball handling, flashy moves and perimeter scoring. He has also played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, New Jersey Nets and Phoenix Suns.

 

He was very receptive of my study and I believe God is going to allow this seed to bear fruit! Keep him in your prayers!

 

Vinnie Dimartino & Cody Connelly

V-Force Customs

While I was visiting the Orange County Choppers in New York I learned that two of the stars from the show, Vinnie and Cody were no longer working for the company. They had left OCC to start their own business building motorcycles and hosting their own show.

 

I found out the address and drove over to check it out. I was surprised to find Vinnie and Cody at the shop working on a motorcycle. I gave them both a Tim’s Bible study! I believe God is going to reach them!

 

 

Teutul Family (Orange County Choppers)

 

While on my way to New York City from Utica New York I felt something telling me to go visit the Orange County Choppers facility. The Orange County Choppers or OCC is a place where they build chopper style motorcycles and the Discovery TV Channel has a show where you can watch these motorcycles being built by a very interesting family. The Teutul family is a very down to earth family who builds these incredible motorcycles and they have become extremely famous by their talent and the TV show. Paul Teutul Sr. is the father and he is quite a character. Paul Jr. is the hands on bike builder and his brother Mikey is just a really neat funny guy who just kind of makes the whole place balance out.

 

We arrived at the facility and showroom on Monday and we were just a little bit late, the crew had already gone home for the night. We looked around at all the motorcycles and also walked into a hallway that has windows so you can watch the show being taped. It was very interesting. I must say I was a little disappointed that I did not get to meet the stars of the show.

 

A couple of days later I had a dream that I went back and was able to minister to the family, it was a strong dream and I couldn’t stop thinking about it the next day. I decided to go back again and try and visit with the Teutuls.

 

We arrived early this time and were able to watch as they taped the show and also see all of the new bikes that were being displayed. At the end of the day they began closing the shop and I waited patiently to try and speak with the family.

First Mikey came out, he was very friendly and seemingly interested in what I had to say. I gave him a Tim’s Bible study and also asked him to give another to his brother Paul Jr. who was off sick for the day. He said he would give him one.

 

Then Paul Sr. came out, he was very kind as well. I gave him a Tim’s Bible study and said we were thankful that he took time to visit with us. I really believe something will happen, Gods word does not come back void!

 

 

Marty Stuart

While in outreach in July we were passing out flyers at a Summer Music event. We noticed the band was Marty Stuart a famous Country Music singer. As we finished passing out our flyers the band had quit playing and people were exiting the plaza. In a couple of minutes I looked up and was standing right next to Marty Stuart. I took a few moments to minister to him and then gave him a Tim’s Bible study! I truly felt the Holy Ghost compelling him. I believe he has a true hunger for God!

 

 

 

 

Air Supply

One night I was driving by a theater and noticed the sign saying Air Supply was there playing music. As we drove by I noticed the theater was letting out and all the people were leaving. I looked into the window and seen the lead singer Graham Russell standing in the lobby signing autographs. I walked in and handed him a Tim’s Bible study and encouraged him to read it as soon as possible. He was very kind and assured me he was interested and would read it!

 

 

 

 

MC Hammer

 

While in Tracy California for revival the Pastor told me his town was the home of MC Hammer famous for the song “Can’t Touch This” As always I felt this was my call to go and try and visit him and give him a Bible Study. One night while on outreach we took a few moments to go visit the Hammer! I walked up to the door with my Tim’s Bible study ready to speak the word. I knocked on the door and his son came to the door. He said his father was out of town. I gave his son the Bible study and he promised to read it and deliver it to his father! I believe God is going to give revelation to MC Hammer!

 

 

Judd Family

 

During our visit to Ashland Kentucky the Pastor began to tell me that Ashland is the home of the Judd family. The mother of the Judd’s still lives in a home located right in Ashland. After learning of this I went to the home of the Judd’s and took a Tim’s Bible study with me. I knocked on the door for a few minutes and no one came to the door. As we were pulling away I noticed someone pulling into the drive way around the back of the home. I went back to the front door and rang the door bell, in just a moment the door opened and it was the mother of the Judd’s. I spoke to her for a few moments and gave her my Bible study. I also asked if she would pass it on to her daughters and granddaughters. She was very kind and received my Bible study!

 

 

John Berry

 

Recently we were in Kentucky on outreach when we spotted a huge yellow touring bus outside of a theater. I had a van full of people who were helping on outreach and I told them we had to take a break for a minute. I pulled over and grabbed a Tim’s Bible study and walked up to the door of the touring bus. I knocked on the door for a few moments but no one answered.

 

I heard a voice call out “Can I help you” and as I looked up there were two women in blue shirts standing at the top of the stairs to the theater. I walked up to where they were and said yes, I’m here to see John Berry. I had no clue who John Berry was but I had read his name on the side of the bus! To my surprise the lady said “ He is inside follow us” they actually took me inside and up the stairs and right on stage with Country Singer John Berry!

                                                              

As we arrived on stage the lady yelled and said Mr. Berry you have a visitor. He put down his instrument and walked over to me. I said, Hi my name is Tim Downs and I am an Evangelist and I have a Bible study I would to give to you! He looked at me for a minute and then grabbed me and gave me the biggest hug ever! He said man I’m a believer, he began to thank me for coming and gave me a couple more hugs and insured me he would read my Bible study! I believe God is going to give him a revelation of the Oneness of God!

 

Quincy Taylor

Former Middle Weight Champion of the World

June 5, 2007 I had the blessing of meeting Quincy Taylor former Middle Weight Champion of the World while on outreach in Dallas TX. I met him while he was crossing the street to go to a gas station from his vehicle. As I began talking to him about God he agreed to follow me back to the church and repent of his sins and be baptized in Jesus name! It was awesome, he is a very humble guy who is truly hungry for God!

 

God had been dealing with Quincy’s heart and he was ready to receive what we had to say! I believe there are so many more just like Quincy ready to receive what we have if we would just be willing to go and compel them! Let’s reach this world with the Gospel!  

 

Cecil

 

And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. Luke14:23

 

On Thursday night June 8th 2006 my wife and I were driving home from my son Jordan’s baseball game, we were on our way home, and I went down a side street that I normally don’t take, as I drove I seen a black guy walking down the street, I pulled over and asked him how he was doing. He said not good, and that he had run out of gas, and was walking to get gas.

I began telling him about salvation and that God wanted to help him and that he needed to get his heart right with God. I told him to get in the van and we would get him some gas. He said he was really having a hard time...and began to tell me in the last couple of days someone jumped in the car with him and his buddy and the guy started stabbing his friend....then someone came to him with a gun....as he was telling this I looked down at his hand, he had something that was a really long and pointed, upon closer examination I could tell it was a shank, like the prison people use to stab people.

 

As we talked he said his X girlfriend had a restraining order on him and he was going to be walking down to see her. So, on the way to the gas station I stopped by where he lived so he could get the gas can for gas. I noticed when he came back out he didn’t have the shank. I drove him to the gas station, and the Holy Ghost told me that this man will not live but a few more days, if he didn’t give his life to God, I told him this, he said wow, I have heard that from two people already...I said well you better get in church and the right church, I gave him a Bible study, took him home, we all got out of the van and right out in the street, Holly and I prayed for him right there, traffic going by and all.....it was powerful.

 

Sunday, he went to Sunday school, and brought his live in girlfriend and her baby, then Sunday night his girlfriend and her baby and her two boys who are 13 and 10 all came and came to the altar! It was awesome he said he is coming to our church from now on! The boys loved it and said they want to keep coming and learn about the Holy Ghost!

I know God has an anointing on this man’s life, Sunday night when we were on the way to pick them up for church, we passed by an apartment complex, I just had glanced over and seen a bunch of children all playing outside, I turned the van around and went back to the apartment complex, there were over 40 children, they all came running up to the van, some were saying is this a church van? I said yes and we are here to invite you all to church next Sunday morning! Before long every child had an invitation, and many said they were coming next week! Already first thing Monday morning we have had calls of people wanting to come from there!

 

One thing I thought about after all this meeting, when we first pulled up to this man, he said he was on his way to get gas, after thinking about this I remembered that when we told him we would take him, we had to go to his house to get the gas can, so in fact he was not on his way to get gas. When I said this to him Sunday, he said just know that God really helped him and didn’t allow things to happen the way they would have. I believe he was on his way to harm someone with the shank that he held. He has stated he wants to testify soon about it all so…stay tuned!

 

Wheel Chair Willy

 

Sometime in the middle part of July, 2006 my wife and I began a new outreach program in an apartment complex called Garfield Apartments. We felt this was a really great opportunity to reach many new souls for the kingdom of God. We began our day going door to door and hanging door tags on each door. As we were walking along some children began talking to us and showing interest in coming to Sunday school. Many exciting things were taking place.

 

As we reached the last few apartments we saw a man of small stature sitting in a wheel chair and looking very sad. I asked my wife to come with me and talk to him. As we approached, I said, hi my name is Tim and this is my wife Holly, we noticed you here and would like to ask you if it’s ok to pray for you. He said well yes I guess so. We laid hands on him and asked God to heal him, the presence of God flooded his small apartment, it was amazing the sweet spirit of God. As we were ready to leave I noticed he had some type of paraphernalia next to him, I didn’t ask what it was exactly but assumed it was a pipe of some type. I began to ask God to deliver this man.

 

Before leaving I asked Willy if there was anything we could do for him. He stated that his wheel chair was broken, the seat had been ripped out and he was sitting on just metal. It was in awful condition. He asked if there was any way we could get him another wheel chair. I told him we would see what we could do.

 

After leaving this day I really felt a burden and a hunger from Willy. I was thinking of where I could possibly get a wheel chair from. A little later that day I had remembered being at one of the saint’s homes as they were preparing for a yard sale a few weeks ago. I remembered seeing a wheel chair. I called them and asked about the chair they said it had not sold, however it belonged to one of the family members and she would have to call and see if we could purchase it. The following day we were able to purchase the wheel chair! Praise God!

 

We took the new chair over to Willy’s house; he was very excited and began to cry. It was awesome. He was very thankful and I believe he was some what surprised that we were able to get him a new chair. Before we left I asked him if I could come once a week and teach him a Bible study about end time prophesy, he said yes, he would like to learn about that!

 

The first thing Monday I started my first Bible study with my new friend. He had another man over to watch with us and was really excited we began to talk about God and the things God can do. He told me he had talked to his girlfriend and asked her, “If I decide to start going to church and living right what will you do?” she told him she would leave him. He stated he did not care if she left or not he was going to start coming to church! I believe God has his hand on Willy and I am excited to see God heal and deliver him!

 

The second week Willy had a new friend his name is Big John, he was a very large man and very quiet. He seems to like the Bible study as well. I am praying God will continue to add souls to our study and we will see mighty works of revival through it all.

 

Tom the Pizza Man

 

It was close to 6:00 pm on July the 3^rd 2006 when I was working on a project for the gowinsouls.com web site. I heard the door bell ring and immediately felt something in my spirit that something good is about to happen!

I looked out the window and could see a small car with the hood up and a pizza sign on the top of it. I went down and seen a man standing at the door. He told me he was driving down our street and after delivering the pizza his car began to act funny. He drove all the way down the street and all the sudden his car just died!

 

I told him, well you don’t know it but God has put you on my door step for more than help with your car! I asked if he needed a phone, he did and he called his boss to tell them he had broken down. As he was on the phone I grabbed a Bible study, an invitation to our church and a Bible. When he was finished I presented him with the 3 items. He was really excited and began to tell me of some of his experiences in and out of churches.

 

As he stood in my drive way he said “you are those Holy Ghost Power people” I said yes we are and God wants to give you that power! I drove Tom home and began to tell him about real salvation and that he needs to respond to Gods calling in his life to be saved. He said he will look forward to coming and asked me to pick him up for Wednesday service!

 

As I began to think about all this, all I can say is that God is so awesome, if you will witness and reach out for the lost in your city, God will send hungry people right to your door! Get ready for revival!

 

Billy Graham

On August 8^th, 2006 we headed for the Soul Winners Boot Camp 2006 which was the most exciting thing we have ever been to in our lives!

 

Upon arriving to our hotel in Saint Petersburg Florida, Holly and I began to bring our items of clothing and other things into our hotel room. Once we were in the room together Holly said, “hey look what I found” as I looked I noticed she had a copy of the Newsweek magazine. As she said that, I said “hey look what I have too” I had picked up the same magazine as her.

 

 

On the cover of the magazine was a picture of the Rev. Billy Graham, an internationally known TV evangelist. We both began to read the article about him and as I read, I noticed the article mentioned Rev. Graham lives in North Carolina, it mentioned he lived in the mountains in a place called Montreat North Carolina. I believe the Lord spoke to me at that time and said, “that’s on your way home”. I thought about it and had planned to check the map and see where it was, however as all of the excitement from Soul Winners Boot Camp began, I forgot all about my interest in where he lived.

 

As the week came to a close, we began our trip back to Ohio, it was a very long drive over 16 hours of straight driving time. As we drove we entered into North Carolina close, I believe to Charlotte. We seen a road that said “Billy Graham Freeway” Holly and I both said it at about the same time, wow look at that! Immediately, I remembered about going to look for his house. I felt like God was telling me to go and try and meet him and give him a Bible study.

 

I could not remember the name of the town the article said Rev. Graham lived in so I called information and asked for a Billy Graham in North Carolina. The operator said she had a Billy Graham institute in North Carolina and gave me the phone number. I called the institute and asked the lady who answered where Rev. Graham lived, she told me he lived way up in the mountain in Montreat North Carolina. I asked her if it was possible to see him and she said she didn’t know. I pulled over, and began to search the map for this location, as I found it I realized it was a long distance out of our way, immediately the old devil began to tell me it’s not worth the drive, you’re tired, and it will take for ever. When he said that he just made me mad, I told Holly, were going to Montreat! It was close to 90 miles one way from where we were. I never listen to the devil and I made up my mind to go!

 

As we entered the little community of Montreat I could feel a presence of evil. We began to drive around and ask various people if they knew where Rev. Grahams home was. The people were all acting very strange; you could tell they didn’t want anyone knowing where he lived. A few people told us directions; however none of them were accurate on where he lived. We finally were going to give up, we drove out of the community and I stopped at a local shopping store. I thought I would try one last time to ask someone. As we entered the store, a young lady smiled and asked how we were doing, I told her what we were doing and she said, “Oh my father is Rev. Graham’s doctor I know where he lives. Almost as soon as she said that, she began to try and take back her words, and said, oh I’m sorry; I’m not allowed to say where he lives.

 

We thought we would try one more time to find it, so we drove back up the mountain. As we rounded one of the curves we noticed an elderly lady out side by the road, we pulled over and I asked her if she knew where Rev. Graham lived, she said, “now why would you want to know where he lives, why would you want to see his home” I told her I had driven a long distance and wanted to at least just see his home. She, too acted very strange about any information about him. As we talked she finally said that he used to live right next to her and because of all the people coming to try and meet him, he had to move way up high on the mountain. She said she has known them for many years and grew up with Ruth Graham. She suggested that If I wanted to give him information that I address it to Rev. Graham at the Montreat Post office under general delivery and that he checks his mail there daily.

 

As we started to leave I gave this elderly lady a copy of my Bible study and asked her to read it, she said she would and we headed for the post office. I addressed a copy of my Bible study to Rev. Graham and put it in the box. I know God was speaking to me, and I obeyed his voice, I am excited to see what comes of this. Please keep Rev. Graham in your prayers, he needs to know the truth!

Git Shorty

After a very long day of outreach on Saturday, September 16, 2006 my wife and I were on our way to church to pray. As we drove past a restaurant in our city I saw a large touring bus with the name “Git Shorty” on the side. Something immediately told me to turn around and go see if I can talk to whoever this was.

 

As I pulled up, I looked through the windows of the restaurant expecting to see a group of people who looked like they were in a band. I did not see anyone. I decided to write a note and leave it on the side of the bus. As usual I do hear what I believe is the voice of God speaking to me as to what to say, I pulled out a church flyer and began to write this information: “It’s time to get your heart right with God and know where you will spend eternity” “What shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul” Please turn your heart to God, read John 3:5 and Acts 2:38

As I was writing, my wife said hey look there is a lady, and this lady was walking into the bus. I waived at her and finished my note. The Holy Ghost spoke to me that this person whoever Git Shorty is, was a backslider. I wrote the last few words on my note and walked up to the bus, the lady put up her finger as to wait just a minute, to my surprise an aged black man came to the door, he was “Git Shorty, Git stands for Guitar Shorty” I told him I was not there for an autograph but I felt I was sent from God to deliver him this message and I would be praying for him. He was very polite and said thank you. I felt the presence of God very strong, it was awesome!

 

When I returned home from prayer I looked up the information for “Git Shorty” here is some of what I found out about him, this is information from his web site.

Guitar Shorty, aka David Kearney, was born in houston, Texas but raised in Kissimee, Florida. As a young boy he would sneak into his uncle’s room and try to play his guitar. He was so small his hands didn’t fit around it’s neck, so he would lean it against the wall and play it like a stand up bass.

When other kids were in high school, Shorty was a student by day and a working musician by night. One evening when he went to work the marquis read, “The Walter Johnson Band featuring Guitar Shorty"; the name he would go by from then on was born.

Right out of high school at the age of 16 Shorty joined Ray Charles and his band for a year. At the age of 17 he recorded a single under the direction of Willie Dixon on the Cobra label. When Shorty was lured away to play with Guitar Slim he moved to New Orleans.

In New Orleans, Shorty fronted his own group that became the house band at the legendary Dew Drop Inn. There he played with greats such as T Bone Walker, Big Joe Turner and Little Richard. It took a job with Sam Cooke to get 19 year old Shorty on the bus and on his way to the West Coast.

Shorty lived and worked in both Los Angeles and Canada until in 1961 he met his wife, Marcia, in Seattle. When Shorty married Marcia he also got Jimi Hendrix, Marcia’s brother for a brother-in-law. The young Jimi Hendrix came to see Shorty play often and they were friends until Jimi’s untimely death

Like a Texas tumbleweed, Shorty rolled back to the Los Angeles area in 1971 and Los Angeles has remained his home. He cut his first full album and got his first W.C. Handy Award while living there.

Since that time Shorty has recorded several albums for the Black Top label and is currently signed to Evidence Records. He often jams at local clubs with former members of the Eagles, Steely Dan, and calls local blues artist Keb Mo a personal friend and fan. He continues to capture audiences with his sincerity, energy, and Rocking/Blues style.

Please pray that the seed that was sown will fall on solid ground. I do not believe this was by chance, but ordained of God.

 

Kirstie Alley

In November 2006 I was traveling to Kansas City to do a soul winning seminar. On a layover in Chicago I arrived and began walking to my next departure gate. On the way, I stopped and bought a Coke at the McDonalds and as I turned around to continue my walk to the gate I seen a lady who just arrived on some type of golf cart. As she walked toward me she smiled and said hi. Immediately the Holy Ghost told me to witness to her and give her a Bible study. I said Hi, my name is Tim and I would like to give you this Bible study. She smiled and said thank you! I than began to talk to her, and come to find out she was none other than Kirstie Alley! I didn’t know who she was at first and then the more we talked I remembered her. She was very kind and I believe she is hungry for God. Please pray that the word of God will quicken her spirit and she will repent and be born again!

Kirstie Alley has starred in many movies and also was a very huge success on the T.V. series “Cheers".

I thank God for allowing me to meet these people, I never ask for an autograph from them. I do not believe the purpose of my meeting them is to celebrate their celebrity status, but to reach them with the gospel! Please pray that her heart will be pricked!

James "Buster" Douglas

For the last year, living in Ohio I have been working on winning James "Buster" Douglas. If any of you ever followed boxing, Buster is the one who knocked out Mike Tyson for the heavy weight championship of the world back in 1990.

I have had the opportunity to visit with him many times, each time giving him a Bible study, a gift basket for his family and also Bibles.

The last time I was at his home he said he has been so busy he just has not had time for coming to our church. I pray God will draw him into a commitment of service to God and his Kingdom.

I am trusting that the efforts I have made to reach Buster will be watered though prayers of others, and God will give the increase and we shall see Buster filled with the Holy Ghost!
